LAUGHING

When someone says with preening bitterness "It makes me laugh" or "It is to laugh," I often interpret that they are really saying "That really hurt me", "That really strikes my nerves", "That really got under my fucking skin", "That really makes me feel like shit so I try to rise above it by forcing myself to find the whole damn thing funny, and, therefore, trying to convince those around me I find it funny too."

Our laugher can be the thinnest of Band-Aids. Sometimes it only covers up our wounds to only us, leaving them naked and exposed to everyone else.
