RAPIER FIGHT



Since I am the director of this particular production, I found that videotaping myself in rehearsal was the best way to direct my own performance. The following in a composite of several different days of rehearsing this particular rapier fight, and I thought it would be a kick to see how fluid I could make editing all of the recorded fights into one. Since we were still in rehearsal, these lines from Hamlet are a little, shall we say, paraphrased?

Lamentably, this was the year I tore the meniscus in my knee doing the show's sword play. The culprit, ironically enough? Shoes. Seriously. After all of my barefoot fight calls, too. Cheap fucking shoes that had little tread marred my knee during the actual performance. Totally my own damn fault.

Oh well.
